Bright Watercolor

Today's design is one of those I paint out of nothing, no plan. I thought I would paint a delicate pattern of some sort, but I ended up with abstract watercolour.

I sat down to paint my nails the other day, but I was out of inspiration. I went through some of my older designs and ended up using the technique from my Tie Dye tutorial.

So.

The Process:

1. Start with white base.
2. Choose light colour and sketch shape of your swirls.

3.-5. Add more colours.

6. Adjust colours, contrast, shapes. Seal your design with top coat.

Heey! I wanted something quick... And then it went wrong and ended up like this.

I really loved the result on right hand, painted with non-dominant. I don't like left hand so much cause I feel like I over-did it.

I must admit the tutorial nail looks different from what you saw last time, but it just ends up different every time I do it, sorry!
In both designs (pink and green) I used a colour scheme of two colours and their shades, I also tried using more colours on friend's nails, but I didn't like that much.

The Process:
1. Paint your nails white. It doesn't matter what colour combo you choose, the base is always white.
2. Start with a sketch. Use the lightest colour you want in your design.
3. Add the second light(est) colour next to the first colour.
4. Add darker colours wherever it feels right. You can put it next to the two colours you have, between them or over them.
5. Keep doing n. 4.
6. Get contrast. Add more dark shades and next to (and over) them white and light shades. Seal your design with top coat.

I used acrylic paint and I don't think the result would be the same with nail polish, mostly because I get impatient working with polish. I use two brushes, striper and detailing, I bought several brushes in local craft store, they cost me 9 CZK each (about 0,30 €) and I cut them down to this size:

Additional Tips:
Usually I use the longer brush in steps 2 and 3 and the shorter in following steps.
You don't need perfectly smooth white base, you're covering it anyway.
In the green version, I added the glow in the dark top coat between steps 4 and 5 to keep the final contrast.
If you're thinking of buying acrylics but you're not entirely sure yet, stop that hesitating and get them.

Irradiated Tie Dye

Hi! In previous post, I mentioned buying a glowing top coat and of course I couldn't wait to use it in a full manicure. I did a bit of testing on fake nails and figured, that the best colours to use it on top of are white, yellow and mint. And what design goes perfect with these colour and glowing? Tie dye! Or, you know, my version of tie dye, which is not really tie dye, but I don't know what else to call it.

NOTD - High on Pink Tie Dye

Hi! Right now I'm wearing these pink sort-of-tie-dye nails I did for a big family reunion (which means to me a lot of people to see my nails, obviously :D) we had this weekend. For a long time I didn't know what kind of design to do. I knew what I was gonna wear, white girly dress, pink-red sweater if it gets colder and pink accessories, so my nails had to be pink. I don't wear pink nails very often and I don't even own many pink-red polish bottles, I'm much more into blues. It hit me Wednesday evening: when I was doing High on Nails design about two weeks ago, that came to my mind through tie dye, originally I imagined something like today's design.

It ended up better than I imagined, quite decent but still interesting, it matched my outfit perfectly and I received a lot of comments on them. But if someone asks how long they took I'm going to lie. I would go crazy if I was to paint both hands in a row, I did my left hand one day's evening and the right another day's afternoon.

Mistero Grey and Tie Dye

In my previous post I promised to talk about the Gabriella Salvete STARS 04 Mistero Grey textured polish. I will also mention the Gabriella Salvete 148 white polish, because white is the colour I use the most and this white is the best I could find in local drug stores.
