FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

• Is this freehand? Do you use acrylic paint?
Yes and yes. I can't remember the last time I didn't freehand a design. And when it comes to choosing between polish and acrylic paint, acrylics win. Sometimes I do use polish for nail art, but only to paint larger surface (like make a full triangle) or to spice up the design with fancy polish colour (texture, sparklies).

• How can you paint both hands so well?
Same old answer: practise, practise, practise. I've been doing both hands ever since I started with nail art, I'm right handed, painting with my left hand got quite natural after a year and something, it used to give me little headache, but it's fine now.
You just have to be patient and keep practicing, don't worry that you have to spend twice more time on your right hand, me too!

• Are those your natural nails?
Yep.

• What camera do you use? How do you edit your photos?
I use quite old Fuji FinePix S7000 camera, it's the best one I own despite its age.
I edit my photos in Photofiltre (version 7.1.2), it has all the tools I need and it's free.

• What program do you use for your tutorials?
I use vector graphics editor Inkscape. It's freeware and easy to work with.
Before I switched to Inkscape, I used regular Microsoft PowerPoint, which has vector graphics functions too. You can't really tell any difference in the result, but Inkscape makes it lot faster. I wrote a post (now fairly outdated) about tutorials in MS PowerPoint that you can read here.

• Do you have a Youtube account? Do you make video tutorials?
No and no. I don't own necessary equipment to make videos, sorry.
